codie + Logan

On May the 20th 2021 Codie and Logan got married at their dream venue, Bridgewater Country Estate, in the gorgeous hills of Helensville, Auckland.

Codie and I met through a mutual friend (who was one of Codie's bridesmaids on the day!) and we have been friends ever since, I had the pleasure of meeting Logan when Codie reached out after their engagement, We meet at a local Mexican restaurant and bonded over their famous spicy chicken and quesadilla's. I was lucky enough to photograph their engagement session at sunset at one of West Auckland's most beautiful beaches <3

After the engagement shoot, there was lots of back and forth, helping with the wedding planning and I sooooo loved being a part of it all. I was nervous at times with the COVID bubble and travel restrictions but I am so pleased that I was able to photograph their wedding day, my last wedding for the 2020-2021 season xx

I'm excited to bring you their gorgeous day through this blog post. These two put so much thought into the little details and handmade decorations you will be so inspired by them!

Take some time to read more about them and how they made their wedding celebrations unique!

A huge thank you to videographer Katherine and second shooter Sarah for joining me!

PS. Check out their trailer film for an immersive experience, you'll feel as though you were there x

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We met on the famous online dating site called bumble. Codie was very against going online dating but one day while watching a movie at home she felt the urge to give it a go. This was the best thing I (Codie) ever did because as I was swiping through I was captivated by Logan's bio. I decided to give it a go and after five months of talking we finally went on our first date together at Goode brothers and the rest is history because we got MARRIED!

We are both outgoing, fun, and quirky people. Codie loves quiet time at home watching movies, spending time with Logan and friends, long walks, and being at the beach. Logan enjoys football, a good session on the PlayStation, and spending time with Codie. We both enjoy binging our favourite TV shows together, long walks on the beach, as well as, being with our family and friends.

One thing that is unique about us is that we are both teachers. Logan being secondary and Codie being Early Childhood. You don't find many couples being both teachers and sharing the same passion. We are also very patient and loving people who have a love for seeing future generations grow and succeed in their life. What is unique about our relationship is that we enjoy doing everything together and we both find it strange when we don't do something together that we normally do. This has been what we enjoy since we first started dating.

We are both confident in our communication with each other and can share any thoughts or ideas that we have even if it is silly or not worth saying.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling, and some of your favourite details…

Our day was magical. It started with rain and clouds and us thinking oh no! The main thing we both enjoyed was the intimate time we got to spend together in front of our family friends declaring our love for one another. We had a little drizzle of rain as Codie walked down the aisle which was quite a romantic feeling. We both wanted a rustic autumn theme and it's exactly what we got. Our lovely venue, Bridgewater Country Estate had the most amazing setting in front of a small chapel surrounded by trees and native bush which made everything so much more special. We wanted to continue our rustic them through to our reception with a dash of navy blue and our setup was fantastic. We were able to have a simplistic setup on our tables which was matched with personalised coasters that Logan created and printed himself. Our day was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better setting to have it in.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Codie wore a lovely long white lace and embroidered dress by Ballgowns, Bridal, and Beyond. Her earrings, rings, and the necklace set were chosen and gifted from Logan the morning of the wedding. The bracelet she wore on the day was gifted by Codie's Mum. And as a tribute to Logan's Grandmother, Codie wore her hairpin in her hair.

Logan wore a stone grey jacket with linen navy pants and a navy tie with a white collared shirt from Hallensteins. The tie pin was gifted and personalised by Logan's best man. Logan was wearing Codie's Grandfathers cufflinks.

The groomsmen were gifted navy blue bow ties, cufflinks, and personalised socks that Logan chose. The bridesmaids wore a flowy navy blue dress by JJhouse with nude shoes of their choice. The girls were also gifted a personalised bracelet from Codie the morning of.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Codie's Grandmother handed over her Grandfathers's Mothers's locket that had a photo of both her Nana and Pop inside to place on her bouquet as she walks down the aisle.

Having both Codie's stepdad and dad walk her down the aisle and her stepfather had a photo of her grandfather on his jacket.

Gifts to each other on the day: We both chose gifts for each other to give on the day with a special letter. This was unique, intimate, and special, making each of us cry when we read our letters!

The Dance! We had spent time practicing our first dance together. On the night it was intimate and special and we nailed it!

Most of all the best memorable moment was to have both of our families together celebrating with us.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Communication is key! This is something that we have always had as a strength in our relationship but as we planned for our wedding we continued to challenge ourselves in this area. Ensure that you listen and communicate effectively with one another. This will ensure your planning process to go smoothly. Share out your strengths and weaknesses when planning for your wedding. This will allow you to strive in your own skills and your skills together as a couple. Have fun and enjoy every moment of the planning and the day together. It goes fast!
